They were formed as a result of the merger of the Institute of Supervisory Management (ISM) and NEBS Management. ILM has over half a century of experience in management development and recognition of achievement through accreditation and membership.

We use the ILM to endorse our leadership and management courses in order to provide quality assured training and provide a nationally-recognised certificate of completion for course delegates.

Belbin is renowned throughout the world as the experts in team relationships based on the assessment of individual team types.

We are accredited users of the Belbin system and we find it invaluable in our work in the field of team development as well as a vital diagnostic tool when working with teams who are experiencing problems.

MRS [Market Research Society]

The Market Research Society is the professional organisation for individuals engaged in market research. Its members and affiliates subscribe to its Code of Practice

SHL

Founded over 25 years ago, SHL is the world leader in objective assessment in the workplace.

We are members of the SHL Partner Network which is a programme for organisations who use SHL products as part of their services. We use their materials to provide feedback to individuals and organisations, particularly in the areas of coaching and recruitment.

The tools that we find are most frequently used are:

• Occupational testing (particularly verbal and numerical reasoning)

British Psychological Society

Because of the nature of some of the tools we use we are required to comply with the standards of the British Psychological Society.

Obsidian consultants who use these tools are licensed at levels A and B of the BPS standards of use and are members of the BPS.

Myers-Briggs

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) questionnaire is the most widely used personality questionnaire worldwide. The MBTI questionnaire describes an individual's personality preferences. The various combinations of preferences result in 16 personality 'types'. Each is associated with a unique set of behavioural characteristics and values. These provide a useful starting point for individual feedback, self-exploration and group discussion

APM [Project Management]

Our project management consultant, Nigel Holder, is a full member of the Association for Project Management (APM). He is also an active member of the APM’s Risk Special Interest Group (The Risk SIG).

At Obsidian, whether we are engaged in consultative or developmental work, our approach to programme and project management is based on best practice as defined in the APM’s Body of Knowledge.

EMCC

The European Mentoring and Coaching Council is a pan-European organisation promoting practice in mentoring and coaching to internationally recognised standards.
